During the musical era following Elvis’ induction into the Army (1959) and the “British Invasion” (1964) a musical form was developed that has since proved to be vital element in the evolution of today’s pop music. It was during this period of time that the “Girl Group” sound emerged with groups like The Angels “My Boyfriends Back”, The Chiffons “One Fine Day”, The Shangri-Las “Leader of The Pack”, The Ronettes “Be My Baby”, The Shirelles “Soldier Boy” and many more. Motown picked up the girl group sound from here with The Marvelettes “Please Mister Postman” (Motown’s 1st #1 Hit!), The Dixie Cups “Chapel of Love”, Martha and The Vandellas “Heat Wave” and of course The Dream Girls… The Supremes. Leslie Gore “It’s My Party” and Little Eva “Locomotion” also had the “Girl Group” Sound.
The Fantastic Party Dolls Show is an authentic recreation of 60’s “Girl Groups”. Lauren (brunette), Carla (red head) and Darlene (blonde) are The Party Dolls. The show captures the essence of the 60’s girl groups by utilizing the trademark harmonies of the era, doing Shindig type choreography, donning 60’s outfits and sporting beehive hairdo’s! A 4-piece band adds driving instrumental and vocal accompaniment to the Party Dolls Show.
The 60’s Girl Group review can set the tone for a 50’s or 60’s theme party. It’s also great family entertainment (concerts, corporate picnics, kids shows) because the music is universally known and loved.
